Not original... luckily

November 03, 2016
These stainless steel bolts, when installed correctly, will save a ton of future hassles. I recommend the bolt holes be thoroughly cleaned out before installing the new ones. I've seen many folks just cranking in new bolts into the holes without regard to dirt, rust, funky threads, etc. DON'T DO IT!!! Always use anti seize on stainless steel bolts. These bolts have allen heads, so while not O.E.M., they are easier to install and remove. The room around the original hex head bolts do not allow some spanner type wrenches to fit. The original steel bottom bolt, being inside the lower radiator hose area has always been a problem to remove do to heavy rust... The head of the bolt usually rounds off, requiring extra effort and often a true problem removing... especially when the bolt head breaks off into the block. Not fun! Obviously stainless steel is not going to rust and with the anti seize applied, the bolt will come right out when needed. If original appearance is required, at least use the stainless steel bolt on the bottom position. Why wouldn't you?
Pros:
  • Won't Rust
  • Easier To Get At
Yes, I recommend this product.

Good product but

September 27, 2016
These bolts work well on the early water pumps, however if you are using the later style replacement pump or 8BA truck pumps you will need the later bolt kit. The center bolt on the late pumps is longer than that for the 37-48 water pump.
Pros:
  • Look Sharp
Yes, I recommend this product.

Good Stuff!

August 19, 2015
I purchased the set of bolts listed for attaching the water pumps to a flathead Ford engine, in my case a 59ab. After cleaning all of the tapped, blind holes with a thread chaser and using an air hose to blow out loosened debris, I checked all bolts for proper length thereby ensuring that all would provide proper clamping force to the water pump(s). All bolts were the proper length. They were all installed with the washers provided and a fairly liberal amount of anti-seize compound. Since this is a freshly rebuilt engine, I chose to use all of the socket head stainless steel bolt offered by Speedway. They meet expectations as far as appearance and utility are concerned. My only criticism - and a very minor one - is that some bolts had some flash in the socket heads which had to be removed prior to installation. Not a big deal. Would buy this product again.
Pros:
  • Proper fit
  • Good Looks
Cons:
  • Some Forging Flash
Yes, I recommend this product.
