Kit number 91046905 is a rear shock kit designed to work with a parallel leaf spring conversion on a 35-40 Ford passenger car. It will not work with an original cross leaf spring configuration as the plates as shown in the photo are the lower spring plates of which one goes under each leaf spring at the rear end housing tubes. Then the upper attaches to a cross member via a shock mount stud or bolt with the proper spacing and alignment.

Shock mounting is very important and with the weight on the suspension and ready to drive the shock should have 50-60% of it's stroke available for compression when encountering a bump. This is especially true on the shorter shocks and if not mounted correctly can dramatically shorten the lifespan of the shock.
