Yes it is possible that this kit can be used on a wide variety of other applications if some modification is done as needed. It was made specifically for the 35 to 40 Ford and that is the reason we advertise it for.

The rear four bar kit for the 35-40 number 91649059 could be used with a transverse rear spring but in doing so you will get a very firm ride. During articulation it will tend to bind on the spring and limit travel. The four bar is basically designed for coil over installation. If leaf spring is designed then a parallel leaf kit is suggested under kit number 91040435.

This kit will NOT work on a 57 pickup. Lengths angles, and geometry would all be different. You would need to get a kit specific to your application or build one from parts available thru Speedway. Last option would be to check some other suppliers for a kit designed for your 57 pickup such as Chassis Engineering, TCI, or LMC Truck.

This is a parallel style 4-bar kit to be used with most any boxed 35-40 Ford car (or 35-41 Ford pickup) frame. The bars in this kit measure app. 27" long eye-to-eye, with the adjuster ends installed.

Yes the REAR SUSPENSION KIT FOR 916-57049, Item #: 91649059, will work with a ford 8.8 rear with slight modification to the axle brackets. The 8.8 tubes are 3.25" in diameter, and they neck down to 2.75" just before they enter the brake housings. Our axle kits are a direct fit for a 3 inch diameter axle tube.

I have a new 1940 Ford frame that has been boxed but it is just a perimeter frame meaning it has no crossmembers yet. Do the front mounting brackets for this four link get welded onto the frame rails or do they get welded onto the crossmember?

Part # 91649059 This four bar kit will work on our Speedway frame or a stock boxed frame rail. The tubes with the ends attached measure 27” eye to eye. The kit does not weld to an aftermarket or OEM cross member or X member.

This rear four bar kit for the 1935-40 Ford is designed to be used on a rear end housing with axle tubes 3” O.D. and if used on a smaller O.D. tube the tube will need to be strapped to increase the diameter or spaced before welding on the brackets.

Does this kit come with detailed instructions. I purchased the Speedway front disc brake conversion kit and the instructions were fantastic. I am hoping that this has similar instructions.

Long Coil-Over Shock Mount
(Part #91636011-PLN)

Speedway offers this fully engineered shock mount. The 5/8" forged button head bolt looks good while offering maximum support.  The 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" billet aluminum support spacer has internal threads. This allows you to properly support this shock without crushing the bushing like others do, which leads to shock failures. There's a reason major chassis builders use this mount.

  • Billet aluminum
  • 5/8"-18 x 6" forged button head bolt
  • 5/8"-18 nylon locking nut
  • 6" from base of head to end of threads
  • 1-1/4" shock mount base
  • 1.5 O.D., .650" I.D. flat washer
  • Safely mounts to brackets 1/2" thick
  • Includes required washers, nylon lock nut, and longer mount bolt
  • Uses an Allen head wrench for holding it while tightening
  • Mount kits sold individually
  • Sold as Each (1)
