On the 35-40 the frame rails are parallel from X member rearward so mounting this rear shock cross member support bar can be mounted for almost any shock configuration. It is mounted per installers preference for shocks ahead or behind the axle and mounting holes will need to be drilled in your frame for mounting.

The bolt in rear shock crossmember is 43-3/16" overall in length. It is 25-3/16" center to center on shock spuds and 9-1/8" from end of bar to center of shock spud.

The kit I ordered came with brackets for shock mounting to an existing factory cross member. If I choose to use the supplied in kit cross member do I have to remove the existing one (probably) Some instructions would be nice

The upper shock bar or original can be used depending on the builders preference of either ahead or behind the axle and what lower mounts are used.

If you have the original frame which was two layers the cross member may be too wide and require removal of the inner layer to install. Or you could remove one end mount plate and shorten as needed to install and reweld the end plate. Original frame dimensions varied by up to 1/2" in tolerances and many swelled between the two layers over the years. Single layer aftermarket may require slight spread to fit as desired.
