Changes had to be made

July 20, 2012
Project '40 Ford pickup ratrod. It had the 7" Dietz Headlights and I switched to the 9.5" 34 Commercial lights. The mounting studs are located at different angles. The '34 lights ended up pointing at the sky requiring modification of the mount. It would be nice if the industry standardized the mounting so all the stud mounted headlights would be easier to interchange. The change improved the look of the car 100% (Thanks for the room to whine)
Yes, I recommend this product.

Disassembly The mounting stem, thru which the wiring goes, is too long for my application, and I need to remove about 1.5" of it. To avoid cutting any of the wires, I want to disassemble the headlite to pull the wires out of the stem, then put them back thru after my cut. I have the lens/bezel off, but cannot figure out how to get behind the reflector to access the wiring. Can the reflector be removed from the shell? How? I realize disassembly may void warranty - that is not an issue. Thank you.

To remove the reflector assembly from Speedway’s part number 91131006 you must first carefully remove the cork gasket that seals it to the lens and bezel assembly. Under the gasket there are two metal tabs on the bucket assembly that need to be pried up to allow removal of the reflector assembly. The reflector assembly includes the channel where the cork gasket resides and also the black flange outside the gasket. The chrome reflector will not come out separately from the gasket channel and outer lip.

These headlights utilize an H5 bulb and an H4 cannot be used in place so as to accept our turn signal kit number 91064150. An accessory light such as 3160176 or 3160171 is offered for the turn signal requirements.

Speedway does not offer a replacement lens but the manufacturer could provide this if needed.

How do these mount? Do you have a picture of the mounting section? I am planning on using them on a fenderless sedan and need to see how they would attach to see if they will work.

These '34 commercial lights have the ball on the bottom thru which the mount bolt goes thru with the wires in the center of the bolt. Similar to other 28-34 cars and should work on your 35 headlight stands as well. The mounting ball is slotted front to rear and allows tip angle front and rear for aiming lights.

We apologize but the 34 Commercial headlights will likely not mount on the original 34 Plymouth stands. The Ford has the round ball on the bottom that the carriage bolt extends down thru the headlight, stand, fender, etc. You can look at part number 91113125-chr for insight into the difference.
