Q & A

What's in the Box

If you have ever wanted a 1932 Roadster but don't like the cramped cockpit, Speedway has the answer!  We started with a clean slate and no expense was spared in the development of this classic street rod. By stretching the chassis and adding 2" to the length of the doors, you are able to get in and out of the car much easier. Also by moving the seat back 2", you have much more leg room and a smoother ride than an original 1932 Ford.

The Speedway Lo-Boy has been one of the most celebrated kit cars ever. Featured in Hot Rod Magazine, Street Rodder, and Rod & Custom Magazine, this car has recieved a great deal of publicity and acclaim. Correctly styled and authentically reproduced, the Lo-Boy Roadster revitalizes the hot rodding spirit that made the 1932 Ford a legend in America’s automotive history books. Designed for nostalgic originality, the Lo-Boy features a unique channeled look, which was quite popular in the early days of hot rodding.

The Lo-Boy body kit features a reinforced fiberglass 1932 Ford Roadster reproduction body, custom floor pan with transmission and driveshaft tunnel, passenger compartment bulkhead panel and trunk floor pan.  It also includes functional doors with inner panels installed, as well as a deck lid with inner panel installed.  Door jam structure braces, integral rear roll pan and rubber body mounting pads are also included.

The body sits upon our custom 106" wheelbase chassis (sold separately). It is a unique tubular design that channels the body over the frame rails for a nostalgic look.

This product is made to order so quantities may vary. Please allow six to eight weeks lead time.

Body Kit includes:

  • Roadster body
  • Floor pan
  • Passenger compartment rear bulk head
  • Trunk floor pan
  • Dash panel (smooth)
  • Doors w/ inner panels installed
  • Deck lid w/ inner panel installed
  • Door hinges & brackets (hidden)
  • Slimline Bear Jaw door latches
  • Door striker plates
  • Deck lid hinges
  • Deck lid latch assembly
  • Rubber body mount pads

10 + years of fun, and counting

March 18, 2011
After looking for years, in 99 I sold my "A" and ordered the LOWBOY kit. It was more work than I expected, but also more satisfying. I used a late flathead and C4 (from Speedway). With my black primer and mex blanket seat, I got a Good Guys top 10 at Scotsdale AZ in 04 (see April 05 StreetRodder). The new LOWBOY has 2" longer doors/cockpit this would ease entry and exit for this 6' 66 year old.
Pros:
  • Reliable
  • Can Withstand Use
Yes, I recommend this product.

Our Lo-Boy kit number 97693200 is designed to accept a small block Chevy V8. Swapping a big block would require firewall, hood sides, and possibly frame modifications in order to lengthen the distance from the firewall to the radiator for the increase space requirement.

The ’32 Ford Lo-boy body could be used on a Model A frame. The model A frame is narrower than the 32 frame so allowances would need to be made to compensate the narrower frame width. An example would be viewing the model A frame in comparison to the ’32 frame in our catalog or on our website.

Speedway’s 1932 Ford lo-boy kit offers more cabin space for driver and passenger and will accept taller individuals more comfortably that the early T buckets and Track T’s. Seat thickness and height will play a determining factor when accommodating a person tall as 6’4 comfortably.

Speedway offers our Kwik Top for applications such as the ’32 Lo Boy. As long as you are running a straight topped windshield frame this top bow kit has a multitude of adjustments for length, width, and headroom height. Once installed a trip to your local upholstery shop for the top material of choice is all that is needed. On our website if you enter part number 91655804 for stainless or 91655803 in plain steel there is also a pdf instruction file in purple print that details the installation process.
